Buddy
Can you believe what a beautiful boy Buddy is? Buddy, also lovingly known as Smilin Buddy, is approximately 2 - 2.5 years old and 80 lbs. Buddy's DNA test came back that he is a Norwegian Elkhound /Shepherd mix. Buddy is true to N.E. breed characteristics – reserved towards strangers but enthusiastically friendly to those he knows; loyal and sensitive; fairly independent; a bit protective. He is still sometimes aggressively playful to female dogs until his energy is worn down a bit. Buddy may snap at strangers but NEVER bites. Because of this, you must be cautious in public with Buddy. Buddy is house broken and crate trained. Buddy would be best in a home with no dogs or a home with one other same-sex dog and no young children.
Adopter must be familiar with breed and willing to work with known characteristics. Buddy is a really happy and good boy and deserves a good forever home. How can you resist that smile? Buddy is looking for a active family. He will be the perfect match for someone looking for a running partner, someone to play ball with and would be ideal if you are looking to be a single dog family. Only indoor homes will be considered.

This pet’s adoption fee is on a sliding scale of $125 to $200. You decide the amount that is right for you to give. The fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, treatment for a variety of intestinal parasites and vaccinations. We have an all-volunteer staff, which means your entire fee goes towards helping homeless animals. A home visit is part of our adoption process, so we do not adopt outside of a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids. To complete our online adoption application, please click here.
Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we cannot guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
